 CAP :: Content Authentication Platform

BayTSP’s newest and most innovative Internet tracking system, the Content Authentication
Platform (CAP), provides content owners, website owners and users with a single, comprehensive,
and secure way to ensure copyrights are protected as well as providing new business opportunities.

Applications of the Content Authentication Platform

CAP gives content owners immediate access to the leading fingerprinting and watermarking technologies. Content owners create a single set of business rules on how their content can be used
and these rules are applied to all of the technologies and all user-generated content hosting websites. When new fingerprint or watermarking technologies are developed, they can be quickly integrated and deployed after being certified as CAP compliant.

CAP allows content owners to develop new business models and revenue streams. For example, users
can create new clips using copyrighted content and post them to user-generated content (UGC) hosting
websites. CAP can identify these clips and, based on the distribution agreement with the UGC site,
allocate the advertising revenue that is generated.

In the future, CAP will provide websites with time-coded metadata, allowing the sites to deliver highly
targeted advertising based on the clip being viewed. This will allow content owners to create marketing
campaigns that can be delivered with specific video content at defined periods of time.

 How It Works

The CAP is a platform that is open to different media content recognition technologies. In addition to
combining recognition technologies, the CAP provides a single point of reference to content owners to
manage their content recognition needs in a centralized, consistent manner across multiple sites and
applications.

BayTSP’s Content Authentication Platform provides digital content owners with a one-stop shop to
incorporate digital fingerprinting and watermarking technologies to protect and monetize their
intellectual property.

Key to the Platform is a fingerprint library, maintained by BayTSP, which can be accessed by user-
generated content sites like YouTube using proactive content filtering to determine whether user
uploaded content includes copyright infringing material.

The Benefits

Combining fingerprinting and watermarking technologies increases accuracy and effectiveness
    of copyright protection programs.
Human review of “grey area” content protects fair use and increases accuracy.
24/7/365 operation, including a team that reviews content that falls outside established business rules.
Highly customizable business processes can be defined and applied wherever content appears.
Open architecture and secure content libraries allow for rapid integration of new fingerprinting and
watermarking technologies as they become CAP compliant.
Flexible deployment options - CAP can monitor content hosting sites independently or integrate
with hosting sites to review user-generated content as it is uploaded.

 RADAR :: High Level Detection

BayTSP’s Special response team.

The BayTSP RADAR (Rapid Alert, Detection, and Response) team is designed to identify and track
client assets and immediately notify clients once the leak has been validated.

BayTSP clients vary in their level of service preferences. BayTSP offers special tracking services for
those customers requiring immediate detection or removal to prevent high levels of distribution on
various internet web.

Below is an overview of the different tracking services and their benefits.

 Standard Tracking

Movies are added to the tracked assets list based on their release dates.
They are searched for on basic protocols, NFO, Usenet, IRC, BitTorrent, eDonkey, etc.
Sites are searched from once an hour to once every four hours, depending on priority level.
Sites are given a single pass and basic keywords are used.

Special Tracking

Movies are added immediately at request of client and are given a permanent high priority
status with a search interval of once per every 30-60 minutes.

Searched sites include those from standard tracking, but are also expanded to web, forum,
blog, and streaming video site searches depending on search criteria.

Keywords are expanded to include a broader search scope.

Detailed logs of all detections are kept and reported daily/weekly to clients.

Takedown action is implemented if requested as a part of coverage.

 How Does
RADAR Work?

RADAR uses a modified version of BayTSP’s FirstAlert system, which employs a series of software
agents or “crawlers” that are programmed to look for the protected asset. These software agents
operate much like a radar system, constantly scanning the file sharing and public networks for the
first indication that an individual has introduced the file and is making it available for others to download.
When a crawler spots a file matching the customer’s property, it initiates a download to BayTSP’s
network operations center. BayTSP reviews the findings to assure that it is the protected item. Once
confirmed, tracking begins on this known asset and a copy is downloaded.

Evidence systems are implemented to assure the usefulness of the findings to the client in case there
is future court activity.

 RADAR Reports

RADAR uses the BayTSP CIMS control panel for reporting the activity. In addition customers
receive RADAR Alert notices when any version of the protected content is detected on the Internet,
and weekly reports showing trends and propagation of protected or watermarked assets.

 EarlyPropagator

EarlyPropagator identifies one of the first individuals who leak unauthorized content onto the Internet.
When the leak has been validated, the system monitors all subsequent downloads. Clients have used
the EarlyPropagator system to establish damages resulting from unauthorized leaks and this
evidence has resulted in several prosecutions and convictions.

    ReleaseWatch

This service is an extension of BayTSP’s monitoring and enforcement service now being used by the entertainment industry, software companies, videogame makers and Fortune 500 firms. ReleaseWatch identifies the very first individuals who upload pirated intellectual property onto the selected P2P
networks, tracks additional users who share the original copy, and collects court-tested evidence
that allows clients to demonstrate damages resulting from intellectual property piracy.

 How Does ReleaseWatch® Work?

ReleaseWatch uses a modified version of BayTSP’s FirstAlert system, which employs a series of
software agents or “crawlers” that are programmed to look for the protected asset. The crawlers
operate much like a radar system, constantly scanning the file sharing and public networks for the
first indication that an individual has introduced the file and is making it available for others to
download. When a crawler spots a file matching a Pre-Release item or a movie screener, it initiates
a download to BayTSP’s network operations center. BayTSP area experts review the copy of the
movie along with the client to assure that the finding is the protected and watermarked title.
Once confirmed, tracking begins on all sharing activity of this known asset.

ReleaseWatch collects identifying information on each downloader including IP address, time and
date, and number of files. The information is saved to a database that generates reports on the
individuals and the propagation of the pirated content across the file sharing networks. The
propagation data could be used to establish financial damages resulting from the first propagator.
    Verified Enforcement

Certain countries and U.S. jurisdictions are demanding more evidence demonstrating that a particular
individual is guilty of copyright infringement. BayTSP has created a verified monitoring and
enforcement program to address these concerns. Verified monitoring and enforcement incorporates additional scanning and cataloging processes to eliminate false positives and provide evidence
needed to address higher evidentiary standards, including download and verification of all files and
hashes, enhanced IP address verification and more detailed evidence packages. BayTSP provides
periodic reports depending on the nature of the project, as well as verified evidence packages.
      Enhanced Verified Enforcement

Enhanced verified enforcement provides the highest quality and most comprehensive evidence
packages. Enhanced verified monitoring and enforcement incorporates additional scanning and
cataloging processes to eliminate false positives and provide evidence needed to address higher
evidentiary standards, including download and verification of all files and hashes, enhanced IP
address verification and more detailed evidence packages. This service also downloads a portion
of the infringing file from the infringer. The downloaded segments are included in the evidence
package.
